Doll care

I'm creating museum quality art dolls and figurines. It is important, as their curator, that you protect these beauties so they live past my life and yours if possible. Their value will only go up as time goes by. They are all handmade. In a time when so much is mass produced, a doll made like this is a dying art. You own something very special as a collector. Porcelain and polymer dolls will last forever if you take care of them.

Figurines: Please be careful not to drop them or handle them roughly. Because I have added fabric and hair to my dressed sculpture figurines they should be protected from dust, bright sunlight and insects. I use a lot of silk, real wings and animal hair in my designs. It would be wonderful and a good investment if you decided to protect them with a glass case or dome.

BJD porcelain dolls with movable parts: These need some care even though they can be played with. If they become dirty, do not clean by dipping in water, the interior springs are metal and will rust.  Wipe off with a soft cloth with alcohol. There is no cording in your BJD so you do not have to worry about a limb popping off. But with a lot of use, springs lose some of their tension and hold a pose less. All is fixable. Even a broken doll can get a new limb if you send it back to me. I will continue to repair the mishaps that the doll encounters. And will train a doll hospital to make the repairs for the time when I can no longer do it myself.

Cost of repairs: Shipping to and from for repairs is the owners responsibly. If springs need reworked there is no charge for new spring work. If a head is broken, the doll is officially dead and we cannot replace it. If a limb is broken, we can replace it with a new one for a fraction of the cost depending on the part. Hands and feet cost a little more than an arm or leg because of the detail sanding and painting required. Our BODY SHOP can give you an estimate if you send a photo of the doll before shipping. New leather buffering in the joints can also be done for very little if that is all that is needed. We stand behind our quality dolls and will do all we can to make ownership economical  for you. Thanks for your purchase, Patricia

Here is a VIDEO film below that shows how to pose your doll joints so the springs last and the doll remains posable longer.
