firing

 
I fire all my dolls at very high temperatures to insure proper curing. I use cone 6 for greenware and cone 18 for all china painting firings. I often fire a face 3-4 times with layers of paint added each time to get the effect I want in the shading and contrast. The shelves and stilts here are called kiln furniture. My kiln is big enough for 4 shelves of greenware all at the same time. Wish I could manage to fire that much at one time... wow that would be a lot of little parts. Each doll has at least 15 parts of porcelain to her. I will be adding more parts for more mobility at the elbows and knees soon. I'm worn out thinking about all that sanding!
